8th Grade Promotion
As we approach the end of the school year, we are preparing to celebrate the achievements of our promoting students. This year, due to the COVID-19 public health crisis, in accordance with related orders from the state, and to support the health and safety of our students, staff and families, all IUSD schools will celebrate the Class of 2020 with virtual ceremonies. South Lake is committed to celebrating the extraordinary achievements of the Class of 2020, while honoring their personal sacrifices for the greater public good. To this end, we are working on a virtual ceremony that will be held on June 5th at 10 a.m. We recommend scheduling that time together as a family to watch the ceremony and celebrate your 8th grader. It is important to take time to commemorate this great achievement, and honor this special time as a family. The ceremony will include student performances, recorded messages, awards, and photos with student names. Please know that we understand the disappointment you may be feeling and we realize that a virtual ceremony is not the same as our traditional promotion activities. It is equally as difficult for us to be away from our students, especially during milestone times like promotion.
